Diversity

Intentional commitment to diversity is fundamental to the mission of the School of Informatics, and this commitment drives initiatives within our learning community, both in and out of the classroom. Our goal is to promote an inclusive environment where individuality is embraced and community is valued. We believe it is essential to grow a workforce that understands and represents the evolving society and world for which they create innovations, and with great pride, we celebrate diverse people, programs, and ideas.

Sun Yat-Sen University Partnership

The School of Informatics has partnered with both Sun Yat-Sen University’s (SYSU) School of Information Management and School of Communication and Design in Guangzhou, China to establish a 2+2 program. Through this alliance, Sun Yat-Sen University students will spend their first two years studying at SYSU before transitioning to the School of Informatics in Indianapolis, Indiana to complete their final two years of study. Students will earn a bachelor’s degree from both institutions.

This initiative is part of a long-term strategic partnership between Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis (IUPUI) and SYSU. Other IUPUI schools and programs are developing similar 2+2 programs with SYSU.  Opportunities for research collaboration and faculty and student exchange are also available. Learn more.
