Bioinformatics
About the Program
The Bioinformatics Program is located at the only campus in Indiana that allows cross-disciplinary interactions with faculty and scientists at the Medical School, Schools of Informatics, School of Science, and School of Engineering & Technology .
The downtown campus also offers unique opportunities to interact with local pharmaceutical (e.g. Eli Lilly) and biotech industries. Together with the health informatics program, Eli Lilly, and IU Medical School, we have a special focus on the translational research that links the benchside (basic research) to the bedside (drug discovery). Graduate study in Bioinformatics at IUPUI requires rigorous training in statistics, computer science and biology. It offers a Master of Science in Bioinformatics, a PhD in Informatics, and a PhD minor in Bioinformatics. The program is supported by faculties from the School of Informatics (both Indianapolis and Bloomington campuses), Center for Computational Biology and Bioinformatics, IU School of Medicine, Institute of Intrinsically Disordered Proteins, Indiana Center for Systems Biology and Personalized Medicine, and IU Center for BioComputing.
