Media Arts & Science alum publishes book about PowerPoint

November 27, 2007

Echo Swinford, MS Media Arts & Science (2006), has co-authored (with Geetesh Bajaj) a new book entitled, Microsoft Office PowerPoint 2007 Complete Makeover Kit. Published by Que, the book is intended for people who want more sophisticated presentations for meetings, seminars, workshops, etc. the Complete Makeover Kit includes detailed steps to create new or upgrade older presentations, including tips from professional presenters. It also is an informative guide about the most recent version of PowerPoint which includes many new presentation features.

"I think the book is valuable for informatics students (and others) because of the prevalence that PowerPoint has in the corporate world," says Swinford. "The better one understands this ubiquitous tool, the better served they’ll be when called upon to create compelling presentations."

From 1997-2005, Swinford was employed by a medical education communications company, responsible for the development of materials and modules for continuing medical education programs. She now works as a self-employed presentation specialist. Echo’s first book, Fixing PowerPoint Annoyances, was published by O'Reilly Media in February 2006. Echo has been a Microsoft PowerPoint MVP since early 2000. You can find PowerPoint tips and tricks on her website.
