MAS grad earns significant professional accreditation

February 16, 2008

Crystal Gold has recently become an Accredited Media Manager through Communications Media Management Association. Gold, assistant director, Multimedia Development Service at IUPUI University College, is the youngest CMMA member to earn this prestigious accreditation. Of the approximately 200 members in the CMMA, only 17 percent are accredited. She is now on equal ground with the elite in her field and is positioned to help shape the future of the profession and media management programs at IUPUI.

Gold says, "For me the biggest part is the validation that what I am doing is falling in line with what the elite members of the field are doing. This greatly improves my credibility and my networking ability has gotten much better. I can go to the leaders of my field as an equal. This is especially significant with my age being a barrier in the past."

Gold was also the youngest member at the time she joined the CMMA, and she is also the youngest board member in the history of the association.

A media manager oversees a team that develops various types of media such as Web, video, streaming, and photography.
