5 Informatics undergrads among Top 100 Outstanding Students in academics at IUPUI
March 5, 2008
The IU School of Informatics is proud to announce that five undergraduate students are among the Top 100 outstanding academic performers on the IUPUI campus. The Top Students cohort will be honored later this month at a recognition dinner in downtown Indianapolis. The IUPUI Alumni Council and the Student Organization for Alumni Relations are sponsors of the Top 100 Outstanding Students program, now in its ninth year.
The Informatics recipients are Christopher Hardin, senior, Media Arts & Science; Nick Noblet, senior, Informatics; Morris Schefcik, senior, Health Information Administration (HIA); Nicholas Stepp, junior, HIA; Catherine Wiseman, senior, HIA.
“We are so proud of these fine students,” said Sara A. Hook, associate dean for academic affairs and undergraduate studies. “I speak for all of my colleagues in congratulating these young scholars, who are fine representatives of the School.”
Eligible students were undergraduate, degree-seeking juniors and seniors with a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 who completed a minimum of 56 credit hours applicable to her/his degree program; 25 or more of those hours at the Indianapolis campus as of the Fall 2007 semester.
Successful candidates for this award had experience and/or performance in three categories: scholastic achievement, collegiate and co-curricular activities, and civic/community service. Three independent judges viewed each eligible nomination. Organizers report a record number of nominations were received making it difficult for judges to choose only “100” outstanding students.
This marks the third consecutive year that Informatics students have been selected for this prestigious honor. The complete list of recipients is available here. More information about the Top 100 Outstanding Students program is available here.
