IU School of Informatics Media Arts and Science major named 2008 Top Male Student at IUPUI
April 1, 2008
Christopher Hardin, senior, IU School of Informatics, was selected by IUPUI as Top Male Student for 2008. The citation was announced at a dinner in downtown Indianapolis honoring the Top 100 Outstanding Students in academics, sponsored by the IUPUI Alumni Council and the Student Organization for Alumni Relations.
Hardin, from Indianapolis, was one of five Informatics students among the Top 100 cohort (the others were Nick Noblet, Morris Schefcik, Nicholas Stepp, Catherine Wiseman).
Current undergraduate, degree-seeking juniors and seniors with a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0, and having completed a minimum of 56 credit hours applicable to their degree program were eligible. Recipients were selected for achievements in scholarship, collegiate and co-curricular activities, and community service.
Hardin’s big evening began with his naming as a Top Ten Male Student, followed shortly by the honor as Top Male for the entire campus. In attendance were his parents, Charles and Vicki Hardin.
“His father beamed; his mother cried,” said Associate Dean Sara Hook, who was seated for dinner with the Hardin family. “The ballroom erupted in thunderous applause and Christopher received a standing ovation. It was a proud moment for everyone!”
This marks the third consecutive year that Informatics students have been selected for the Top 100 honor.
