"Pieces of Flair" is a popular fundraising event for NBS student organization

October 11, 2008

Members of the National Broadcasting Society (Media Arts and Science Club) raised more than $125 during a "Pieces of Flair" button sale fundraiser on Tuesday, October 7. Pre-made buttons designed by NBS members were sold for $1 each. A laptop, printer and button making supplies were also availalbe for custom made buttons to be created on-the-spot and sold for $2 each. Custom buttons were a hot commodity during the sale, with many students and staff purchasing multiple custom designs.

In addition to raising funds for upcoming events and the national convention, members hope to raise awareness of the new club and gain the interest of students of all new media disciplines, not just video production.

"Fundraising events like this one are good because it makes people more aware of your cause. We had a lot of fun!", said secretary Justine Marter.

The sale took place on the first floor of the Informatics building from 12 PM-6PM. Among members in attendance were Chauncey Frend, Jeff Fugate, and Justin Decloedt. The "Pieces of Flair" theme has roots in the hit cult film Office Space, and a Facebook application by the same name.
