Informatics grad student wins second place in Celebrate IU student video contest

November 3, 2008

Prathik Gadde, a bioinformatics graduate student in the IU School of Informatics at IUPUI, was one of the big winners in this year's Celebrate IU student video contest.  He placed second, behind IUPUI undergrads Robin Licht, Erik Osburn, and Mariah White, who won for their rap song about IU.

Gadde, who started his graduate studies only this fall, apparently fell in love with Indiana University in short order.  Dubbing IU as "The Kingdom", Gadde's video treatment, entitled I Love IU, combined images from academics, sports and campus life, with a nod toward each of the regional campuses. He picked up a $200 prize for the effort.

The contest, now in its second year, is part of the university's "Celebrate IU" festivities, a month of special events at all eight IU campuses that began Oct. 1. IU asked students to share their university spirit with the world by creating 60-second videos and uploading them to the popular video sharing Web site YouTube.
