The bioinformatics program focuses on the translational research that links the benchside [basic research] to the bedside [drug discovery]. Our bioinformatics program offers unique, state-of-the-art research facilities and employs faculty who are experts in their professions. We offer unique collaborations with the IU Medical School, Center for Computational Biology, Institute of Intrinsically Disordered Proteins, and IU Center for BioComputing. Our Indianapolis location allows us to form strategic partnerships with local industry leaders including Eli Lilly and Down AgroSciences, providing opportunities for internships, PhD scholarship sponsorship, and direct research collaborations.
Combining the study of science with information technology leads to exciting research and employment opportunities. IU School of Informatics graduate Arvind Sekhar shares the story of his work with Dow AgroSciences, and how bioinformatics is helping to feed the world.
