Master of Science in Bioinformatics
The Master of Science degree in Bioinformatics is a 36 credit hour program that includes 27 credit hours in bioinformatics core courses (A & B), 3 credit hours in seminar courses, and 6 credit hours of electives. The students have the options of taking (1) six credit hours towards a thesis, or (2) three credit hours towards a project, or (3) a non thesis/project option without thesis/project credit hours.
Ph.D. in Informatics (Bioinformatics specialization)
The Ph.D. degree in Informatics is a 90 credit hours program including an appropriate minor from outside or partially inside the school. A sample curriculum for bioinformatics track includes 15 credit hours in core courses, 12 credit hours in advanced courses, 6 credit hours in seminar courses, and at least nine credit hours of electives including the credit hours towards the minor degree. In addition, the students have to take research credits towards their Ph.D. thesis including rotation credit hours.
