Biography

Uday is from southern India (Hyderabad). He earned an undergraduate degree in Bio-technology from Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University. His interests include developing computational work-flows for the analysis of complex biological processes, visualizing biological data, and developing machine learning models.

Biography

Rebecca has an academic background in the life sciences and has many years of experience in the private information technology sector. She returned to academia in order to combine and pursue her interests in biology and technology. She obtained her master's of science in Bioinformatics from IUPUI in 2008. In 2003, she left Symantec Corp. as a security engineer and began working as a bioinformatics database manager in the Division of Clinical Pharmacology, IU School of Medicine. The division has a clinical and research focus on individualized response to drug therapy. Her master's thesis focused on facilitating pharmacogenetic association studies using an extensible genotype information management system. Rebecca is a current society member of ISCB, ACM and SWE.

Biography

Akram has a bachelor's degree in Agro Science and a master's degree in Information Technology. He is a certified Java programmer and has worked in Switzerland as a Java progammer, software, and hardware supporter. Currently, Akram is studying Bioinformatics under Professor Malika Mahoui.

Biography

Mohammed has over 10 years of work experience in the pharmaceutical industry in the areas of genetic toxicology and regulatory affairs. His interest in bioinformatics started six years ago when he was involved in the evaluation of the response of genotoxic stressors on global gene expression using microarrays. Currently he is working as an Associate Consultant in regulatory affairs at Elanco Animal Health, A Division of Eli Lilly and Company. Mohammed’s main job responsibility is regulatory information and Knowledge management. Mohammed is married and has four children. He lives in Fishers, IN, and enjoys photography and soccer.

Biography

Shreyas began in the Bioinformatics Master's program in the Fall of 2009. Prior to this he worked at the National Chemical Laboratory in India as a Research Assistant where he was associated with a group involved in applying machine learning algorithms to biological data.

Biography

Gokhul has previously worked as a Database Technician with the Department of Gastroenterology and also as a Research Technician with the Department of Dermatology, IU School of Medicine. He is the Co-Chair of the Media and Public Relations, Telugu Association of North America (TANA). Other interests include photography, journalism, politics, psychology, driving, reading, travelling, and making friends.

Biography

Prudhvi is working toward a career in Bioinformatics. As a Research Assistant for the Indiana Center for Systems Biology and Personalized Medicine he works on disease specific connectivity maps providing a brand new platform for computational molecular pharmacology studies across different diseases. His research focuses on finding the application of potential drugs in new disease contexts or predicting the toxicology profiles of drugs based on functional activities. Prudhvi is also a database developer creating biological databases for many research projects. He is also the webmaster for the Indian Student Association.

Biography

Mark has many years of experience in the software deveopment industry. He is currently a senior software developer for the IU School of Medicine. He has also been a software developer for two health insurance companies and many other organizations. Mark has professional certifications in Mircosoft devlopment (MCSD), Oracle database management (OCA), and web development (CIW).

Research Interests

His research interests are at the intersection of bioinformatics and health infomatics. He is currently working on the BioFacets project which is managed by Dr. Malika Mahoui.

Yogesh has recently moved to the United States for his Graduate studies. He has previously worked for a National Chemical Research Lab. Rini is a graduate student in the Bioinformatics program. She also works with Dr. Palakal on the creation of a unique knowledge base to store Spice-Disease relations. She has also worked on Single nucleotide diseases, SNP's, under Dr. Sean Mooney at the Center for Computational Biology and Bioinformatics, CCBB. Rini interned at Methodist Hospital creating a database on Patient Tracing and Demographics.

Biography

Ao Zhou was initially a Physics Major, however he developed an interest in biological science and computer science and switched his focus to Bioinformatics in 2008. Currently he is working on a Database Integration project for Biomarker Identification in Proteomics. His primary expertise is C programming, Database Management, and Web Development.
