What IHIE is Doing to Enable Quality Healthcare Programs
April 24, 2007
Host: Josette Jones
AbstractPay-for-performance and pay-for-value programs aim to slash healthcare costs and raise value. While some laud them as a silver bullet, critics often dismiss them as doomed from the start, citing two critical flaws: (1) Quality programs cannot be based solely on insurance claims data, and (2) if each insurance program creates its own quality program based on its own set of measures, practicing physicians will find participation unworkable. The Indiana Health Information Exchange (IHIE) believes it has overcome these obstacles in the Quality Health 1st program rolling out in Central Indiana in 2007.
