Distance Education

Sharing knowledge with the wider community is the primary goal of the School of Informatics’ Distance Education program. This initiative, also commonly referred to as online education, allows students and partners in the community to benefit from informatics course offerings and lecture presentations.

With more than 750 students currently enrolled in online courses, the School of Informatics continually strives to merge high-quality education with advanced online delivery systems. In this way, students are engaged in learning in meaningful and productive ways outside of the classroom. One example – the School’s online lectures are now pod-cast configured for streaming and compatible with the iPhone.

Nearly 50 courses are currently online, including the entire professional program portion of the Health Information Administration program (junior and senior years) excluding the professional practice experience courses. There are also several informatics courses and some media arts & science classes available online. The School is committed to expand its online offerings, with consideration being given to collaborations with universities worldwide.
