Full-time Faculty, Health Information Administration
The Indiana University School of Informatics at IUPUI invites applicants for a faculty appointment in the Health Information Administration Program. The candidate will have extensive experience with software applications typically used in health information management departments. Management experience and knowledge of healthcare privacy and security (HIPAA) is also required. The successful candidate will develop courses for both the traditional class setting and for distance education.
The Health Information Administration Program at IUPUI in Indianapolis, Indiana has a rich history of successfully educating health information professionals. The program was established in 1950 on this campus and has a tradition of preparing graduates for success in the field. Each graduating class has consistently scored in the top 10 on the national registry exam each year and program graduates have enjoyed 100% employment for several years. All program courses are offered traditionally and by distance education. The program also recently added certificate programs in Cancer Registry and Medical Coding.
Requirements
A master's degree is preferred but will consider Bachelor's degree with substantial professional experience. RHIA certification and at least 3 years' management experience in Health Information Administration is required. Must be willing to relocate.
Responsibilities
The faculty member will be expected to teach at least 12 hours per semester. He/she will serve as a member of the School of Informatics committees, actively participate in professional organizations and support and assist in continuing education activities for the HIM community. All HIA faculty are expected to assist the program director in counseling and advising of students, developing curricula and setting program goals.
Compensation
Salary, faculty rank and appointment type will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
