Admissions
Successful applicants for admission to the Master's and PhD programs must demonstrate the skills and knowledge required for completion of the undergraduate degree in Informatics, to the extent these are relevant to the particular Master's or PhD program. These skills are detailed in the B.S. program definition. Typically applicants will have a strong background in Informatics and likely in a specialty related to the particular M.S. or PhD program (e.g., Biology for Bioinformatics). Promising applicants who have deficiencies may, with faculty help, select courses that will provide instruction in providing competencies to overcome deficiencies and meet admissions requirements. However, the courses will not count toward the total number of credits required for the advanced degree.
Eligibility
Students with a bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college may apply for Master's and PhD degrees. Admission is selective; the Admission Committee evaluates applicants' abilities to succeed academically, and their potential to contribute to the program.
