Biography

David comes to IUPUI with an extensive background in Computer Science and Software/Internet development with both a Fortune 100 company and the Illinois state department. He is interested in eCommerce and would like to pursue a career in usability engineering or user experience design. David enjoys living in Indianapolis' Broad Ripple district, playing new golf courses, and visiting the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

Michael Downey

Biography

Michael has spent the first decade of his career managing global IT projects for Fortune 500 and Global 500 corporations, and serving as an industry consultant for projects of all sizes. An active participant in the technology community, Michael has served as an informatics instructor with the United States Peace Corps in Cameroon, and is involved with multiple technology projects in West & Central Africa. His research is focused on the application of user-centered design principles and methods to international development projects, with specific attention to mobile health-care (mHealth) initiatives.

Jon Duke

Biography

Dr. Duke is a medical informatics fellow at Regenstrief Institute and a board-certified internist. He is obtaining a M.S. in HCI in order to improve the development and evaluation of health care applications for physicians and patients.


Prathik Gadde

Biography

Prathik is a Research Assistant with the Android Science Center where he is working on designing an android test bed. He is also interested in designing prototypes and interfaces that facilitate a positive user experience.  Outside of his academic work, Prathik has a passion for making movies. He won second prize in the “Why I love IU” video contest in 2008. He is also the President of Indian Students Advisory Council-IUPUI.

Dennis Mann

Biography

Dennis is currently employed at Eli Lilly as a Systems Analyst and Business Integrator, supporting Pharmaceutical Manufacturing IT Systems. A Charter Member of the Indiana Chapter of the Usability Professionals Association, and a member of ACM SIGCHI, he is passionate about User Centered Design, Interaction Design, and User Experiences. His primary focus is currently centered on Healthcare Systems and Electronic Medical Record Interface designs, primarily in the area of Patient Point-of-Care.

Diego Pulido

Diego Pulido

Biography

Diego grew up in Colombia and moved to the United States after finishing secondary school. He completed a dual degree in Psychology and French at the University of Nevada, after dividing some of his undergraduate time between Reno, Pau (France), and ultimately finishing in Turin (Italy). He enjoys the HCI program because it allows him to combine his fields of interest; computers and psychology. Currently, Diego is completing his thesis on a new prototyping technique for mobile user interfaces, based on an article co-authored by Dr. Davide Bolchini, Dr. Anthony Faiola, and himself; published in ACM's Interactions Magazine (July-August 2009). Diego also works as an Interaction Designer at Pearson Education in Indianapolis.

Nicholas Romero

Biography

Nicholas grew up in northwest Ohio and attended The Ohio State University (Columbus, Ohio). His focus on computing and design stemmed from heavy interest in architecture. Nicholas became aware of his passion for balancing creativity and technology while being introduced to computer-aided design and programming. Since then he's channeled his interests, talents, and dexterity towards general interactive applications. His professional vita includes interactive applications development for an Indianapolis based marketing firm and applications development for JPMorgan Chase. He aspires to one day advance his career within an organization comprised of mutual beliefs and goals such as NASA or the Federal Government.

Tao Yang

Biography

Tao Yang is a current Human-Computer Interaction Ph.D. student . Before arriving in the U.S., he received a master's degree in information science, and a bachelor's degree in information management. His research interest is devising brand value based approaches for designing and evaluating information-rich web applications, and investigating the relationship between usability and a brand's communication impact. The major aim is to enrich users' experience in using Web sites from multiple dimensions, such as usability, aesthetics, and communication.
