Biography
Born in Maryville, Illinois and raised in St. Louis, Missouri, Kevin grew up in a Taiwanese family with a liberal education and an appreciation for music and art. He subsequently attended medical school in Kansas City, Missouri and then moved to Austin, Texas for residency. Kevin recently moved to Indianapolis in 2008 to pursue a Masters in Health Informatics and a fellowship with the Regenstrief Institute where he hopes to improve the delivery of health care through well-designed health information systems.

Heather Coates

Biography
Heather enrolled in the dual-degree program in the Schools of Library and Information Science and Informatics in 2006. Heather has worked in healthcare since 2000 and as a research coordinator since 2002. In 2008, Heather received certification as a Clinical Research Professional through the Society for Clinical Research Associates (SoCRA). Her role at the Christian Sarkine Autism Treatment Center includes coordination of research, ensuring research compliance, developing educational materials for consumers and professionals, and designing web-based learning modules for clinicians and educators using Adobe CS4. Her interests within the Center's activities include developing accessible consumer health materials, empowering families through health literacy skill training, professional development via distance learning, and advocating for patient involvement in the care process.

Brian E. Dixon

Biography
Brian is a Health Information Project Manager with the Regenstrief Institute. Brian has primary responsibilities in the area of health information exchange, including research and development projects involving the Nationwide Health Information Network (NHIN) and the exchange of data between public health agencies and electronic health records. Prior to his current role, Brian developed technology for Regenstrief, including tools supporting the standard clinical vocabulary LOINC and tools for querying large clinical data repositories. Brian lives on the southeast side of Indianapolis with his wife and son. He enjoys golf, movies, and traveling.

Jeff Klann

Biography
Jeff's interest in applying computer science to medicine arose after spending some years as a patient and seeing inefficiencies in the healthcare system that computers could potentially mitigate. Jeff is a Research Fellow at the Regenstrief Institute, an IU-afilliated world-renowned healthcare research organization. He is interested in developing methods for and applications of extracting knowledge from clinical data. Sharon Lee

Biography
Sharon is working toward a career in information management, with a focus in biomedical research. Sharon heard Indianapolis is gaining strength in medical and pharmaceutical sciences and decided to redirect her skill set toward this field. She plans to get a job in the healthcare industry before 2010, so that by the time she earns her degree in Health Informatics, she would have adequate on-the-job experience in the medical field.
Until then, she’s doing her best to keep her sanity as a full-time working mother! She works as a contractor for a Xerox copy center in Dow Agro Sciences. She’s married to a 1st-gen Korean, and has 2 young kids. In whatever free time she has left, Sharon enjoys watching/reading science-fiction, gardening, trying out new foods, and volunteering for a small Korean church in Westfield.

Scott Smiley

Biography
Scott Smiley is a Web Developer for Community Health Network located in Central Indiana. As part of the Business Development Division at Community, Scott has developed a physician finder application, a physician pay-for-performance application, a physician practice dashboard, as well as a patient portal integrated with the patient’s electronic medical record. He has been with Community Health Network for three years and has five years of web application analysis and development. Scott has a Bachelors of Science degree in Computer and Information Technology from the Purdue University School of Engineering and Technology in Indianapolis.

Lynn Vincz

Biography
Lynn is a clinical nurse consultant for WellPoint Inc. a health benefits company headquartered in Indianapolis. She has a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing from Indiana Wesleyan University. Lynn has a varied clinical background in intensive care settings in pediatrics, neonatology, and adult ICU/CCU, as well as experience in medical oncology, and operating room sub-specialties in orthopedics and ENT. In addition she has a managed care background, and is a certified case manager with experience in utilization management, case management, and disability medical management. Lynn's goal is to enhance her clinical knowledge with health informatics and focus on health information initiatives to promote health and wellness in the community.
