The Program
Informatics explores computing and information technology as they apply to everything else - it is transdisciplinary: areas such as health, business, biology, languages, music, the social sciences, and the physical sciences. Computing tools have changed the ways we do everything: how we learn, how we work, how we discover new knowledge, how we stay in touch with family and friends. Computing allows us to gather data and turn it into information. Informatics creates technology and tools that transform information into knowledge that helps people make new discoveries and live better lives. Informatics also studies how humans interact with technology, including the design of information, how people search for information, how they think about it, and what they use it for when they find it.
