School of Informatics students honored at Women and Hi Tech Leading Light Awards

IU School of Informatics at IUPUI students and Women in Technology (WIT) at IUPUI co-founders Christina Dunbar and Thint T. Cho were recognized at the 2012 Women and Hi Tech Leading Light Awards this October.

Christina Dunbar received the $1000 Software Engineering Professionals Student Scholarship, presented by Software Engineering Professionals’ CEO Jeff Gilbert. Dunbar is pursuing a master’s in Media Arts and Science, as well as a graduate certificate in Human Computer Interaction.
Thint T. Cho won the $1000 Ice Miller Student Scholarship presented by Ice Miller Partner, Holly Banta. Cho is pursuing a master’s in Media Arts and Science.

Women and Hi Tech is a non-profit organization founded in 1999 to address the specific needs of women in high tech industries in Central Indiana and to encourage women to consider careers in technology. Supported by men and women alike, Women and Hi Tech’s goal is to attract, develop, retain, support and promote women interested in technology through networking, role modeling, education and professional development.
The Leading Light Awards honors women of achievement in science, education and technology. It also provides honorees with heightened visibility among many of Indiana’s most influential and successful business and technology leaders. The Leading Lights Awards Gala was held at the Crown Plaza Grand Hall on October 9.
The IU School of Informatics and Computer Information Technology department of the PU School of Engineering and Technology are co-collegiate sponsors to Women and Hi Tech.
