Director in Health Informatics
The Indiana University School of Informatics at Indiana University Purdue University Indianapolis (IUPUI) invites applicants for the position of Director of Health Informatics, a multidisciplinary research and teaching program.
Candidates for this position should possess an advanced degree in Health Informatics, Computer Science/Information Technology, Medical Informatics or a related field and an established record of teaching and research in a health-related area. Candidates should have created or have the potential to create a sustainable externally funded research program. The responsibilities of the position include directing the health informatics graduate program and working with local and national organizations to promote and further develop the health informatics graduate educational and research programs.
The Indiana University School of Informatics is situated on the academic medical center campus, home to the Indiana University School of Medicine. The Director of Health Informatics will lead the collaboration between the School of Informatics and other healthcare and life and science units on the IUPUI campus. This effort will include increasing collaborative partnerships with the Regenstrief Institute, an internationally recognized informatics and healthcare research organization which has pioneered electronic medical records, computerized provider order entry, clinical decision support, regional health networks, and many of the data standards that drive them. The Health Informatics program also enjoys the strong support of and collaboration with the Roudebush VA Medical Center, Clarian Health (one of the largest health care organizations in the Midwest), the Schools of Nursing, Dentistry, Social Work, and local health care organizations.
Current areas of faculty research include electronic medical records, health data exchange, biomedical system and interface design, standards and terminology for health data, clinical decision support, consumer health informatics, technology to enhance patient safety, telehealth application development and implementation, cost reimbursement, integrated health information systems, health and serious interactive game design, health IT/human-centered design, and usability testing.

The School of Informatics (IUPUI) has three baccalaureate programs (Health Information Administration, Informatics, and Media Arts & Science), four master's programs (Bioinformatics, Health Informatics, Human-Computer Interaction, and Media Arts & Science) and Ph.D. programs in Health Informatics, Bioinformatics, and Human-Computer Interaction. Nearly 1,000 students are enrolled in the school's programs, which feature state-of-the art facilities, fully equipped classrooms, laboratories and offices in its new building.
