Facilities & Technology

Everyone from Yahoo! Internet Life to Sun Microsystems to Microsoft to Cisco Systems has noted the prominence of electronic resources and technological know-how present on the IU campuses. At IUPUI, you'll be wired to the world and have exposure to some exciting tools, including a CAVE virtual reality lab and access to the Abilene Internet2 network.

  • All IUPUI students are provided with free Internet access. IUPUI students also have access to software for word processing, e-mail, spreadsheets, Internet navigation, web page development, and programming at free or greatly reduced prices.
  • Indiana University is one of the partners in the development of Abilene, the high-speed Internet2 network. The national network operations center is located on the IUPUI campus.
  • The Indiana Pervasive Computing Research Initiative (IPCRES) has established several labs in Indiana that are headed by researchers of international standing. Faculty and students at IUPUI will have opportunities to work with IPCRES researchers on various projects
  • The Informatics and Communications Technology Complex is a state-of-the-art facility housing the Schools of Informatics, Journalism, and Music, in addition to University Information Technology Services and the Abilene operations center. This facility plays a major role in technology education throughout Indiana and the United States.
