Introduction
Mary Ellen Reed lectures in the New Media Program, currently teaching N110 Visualizing Information, N175 and N180 - Vector and Raster Imaging, and N201 Design Issues in Digital Media.
Biography
Ms. Reed’s interests include graphic design, typography, illustration and photography. She has worked as a graphic artist and taught at Marian College and Butler University before coming to IUPUI. In 1984, Reed was hired to start the graphic arts program for Marian College, which she left to pursue her New Media studies. For over 20 years, she owned and operated a successful design business for print graphics in the Indianapolis area. She is currently involved in creating CD-ROM training manuals and interactive critical care educational materials for nursing students.
Research Interests
Ms. Reed is interested in researching and implementing basic design principles as they apply to the field of New Media. Current research includes art direction and consulting for CD-ROM based training materials. Other areas of interest include typography and graphic design issues for both print and computer-based media.
