Biography

Susan Tennant is an Associate Clinical Professor in Media Arts & Science. Susan’s teaching schedule currently encompasses digital documentation of cultural heritage and physical computing. She also is an instructor of Informatics study abroad program in Paros, Greece.

Susan Tennant’s awards include:

  • 2007 Indiana University Board of Trustees Teaching Award of Excellence
  • 2002 SPROP Interdisciplinary grant, Indiana University
  • 2001 IMLS Institute of Museum and library services, awarded for the CLIOH Project
  • 2000 Silicon Graphics Inc Award for excellence in Computational Sciences and Visualization at Indiana University
  • 2000 Grant Recipient of Indiana University High Performance Network Applications Program Internet 2
  • “SIVE”, a scalable immersive 3D environment designed for the desktop and Internet2
  • 1999 Grant Recipient of Indiana University High Performance Network Applications Program (HPNAP) Internet2 for “Chichen Itza, A Virtual Tour”

Tennant is on the 2002 Board of Directors of the Virtual Heritage Network as well as the Board of the Eiteljorg Museum. She is a past Master Fellow recipient of the National Endowment of the Arts; a three-time recipient of the Indiana Arts Commission Distinguished Master Fellowship; and in 2002 received an IU SPROP interdisciplinary grant.

Tennant has also been active in service to the University and community with activities such as:
